Learn how New Generation Airships are developed by AERONOVA's leading experts

A large-scale series of 3 webinars on New Generation Airships has concluded.

For the first time, AERONOVA's leading experts went live to explain how the future of aviation in Russia is being created right now.

"Airships: from past to future" — Chief Designer Vadim Zubkevich offered an overview of the history and current state of airships.

- Soviet legacy: how developments for tanks and trucks (GAZ) laid the foundation for modern engines.
- Airship development experience in Russia: why the airship project for power line monitoring became the foundation for new craft.
- Hybrid configuration: the shift from classical designs to craft where lift is generated not only by helium but also by hull aerodynamics, solving the problem of ballast jettison.

"Microturbines: the legacy of the USSR and technologies of the future" — the chief designer for the microturbine program, Andrey Kostyukov, explained why these engines are a revolution in aeronautics.

- A revolution in weight: a microturbine with a generator is multiple times lighter than a diesel engine at comparable power.
- Endurance and fuel: a microturbine has a service life of up to 60,000 hours (versus 20,000 for a diesel engine) and can run on any type of fuel.
- Efficient solutions: the low exhaust temperature allows it to be used to heat the envelope, solving the problem of ballast jettison.

"Artificial intelligence and unmanned airships" — lead software developer Milad Ranaei explained how artificial intelligence replaces an entire crew in aviation.

Crew replacement: the autopilot handles complex maneuvers that previously required dozens of people on board.
Control architecture: the system enables the craft to see obstacles and adjust its course in real time.
Operational optimization: an operator controls the flight with a couple of mouse clicks from a ground control center.
