September digest: the New Generation Airships project

In September, NOVA-01 was unveiled to the public, assembly of NOVA-2 continued, and AERONOVA received its first order.
Here is a closer look at all the events and results.

NOVA-2: envelope testing
The 2000 m³ envelope was completed at our in-house production facility. It underwent a higher-pressure test, while the ballonet passed a leak-tightness check with no unacceptable leaks or deviations. A comprehensive series of tests is ongoing.

Strength test of the composite landing gear leaf spring
At the operating load of 1250 kg, the specimen failed at 1280 kg. The calculated safety margin of 1700 kg was not confirmed. Following the inspection, the manufacturing process and layer lay-up pattern will be adjusted, followed by repeat testing.

NOVA-01 at RUBAE—2026
On September 15–16, NOVA-01 was presented at the business aviation exhibition at Vnukovo-3. The aircraft attracted interest from business aviation representatives. Our team received offers of cooperation and is following up with new contacts.

Aeronautical heritage
A collection of envelopes from Soviet balloons and airships dating from the late 1940s–1950s and later periods was transferred to AERONOVA. Plans call for restoring, studying, and using them in museum and demonstration activities.

AEROLЁT-01: further development and relocation to Kirzhach
AEROLЁT-01 was damaged during testing. Restoration work will take place at the airfield in Kirzhach. The relocation from Voskresensk has been completed.

First orders
The company has begun fulfilling an order for a 350 m³ tethered aerostat system. Details will be disclosed later.

Upcoming tasks and goals
In October, the team plans to complete the nose reinforcement and engine frames for NOVA-2, continue manufacturing the gondola, and prepare the systems for assembly.

Gas filling is scheduled for late October to early November.
