The “New Generation Airships” project is approaching its most spectacular and challenging stage.
The 4th stage will require the team to make strategically important decisions that could shape the future of airship manufacturing.
What tasks need to be addressed in the 4th stage?
Main challenge — determining the NOVA-2 assembly location. The team needs to find or build an assembly shed (hangar) for the final assembly of the airship and inflation of the envelope.
Envelope production for NOVA-2. Launching in-house envelope production made it possible to complete the 3rd stage. In the 4th stage, the envelope for the first NOVA-2 airship will be completed and tested using our in-house equipment.
Assembly of the airship. By the end of summer 2026, the team will present a 2,000-cubic-meter envelope, ready for ground tests. In parallel, production and installation of the tail assembly, nose reinforcement, and other elements required to assemble the airship will continue.
Preparation for certification. "AERONOVA" will continue preparing to obtain a developer certificate from "Rosaviatsiya" so that the large unmanned NOVA-2 airship is authorized to fly.
Project achievements at the current stage:
• Launched in-house production of airship envelopes;
• Obtained a Minpromtorg license — the right to develop lighter-than-air aircraft;
• The first aircraft, NOVA-01 and AEROLЁT-01, are successfully performing their missions;
• NOVA-2 has been fully designed and is being prepared for assembly;
• Commercial interest from customers in Russia and other countries is growing.
The project has proven its credibility. In just 1.5 years, we have gone from an idea to completed aircraft — NOVA-01 and AEROLЁT-01. These are no longer just renderings, but a reality that many have seen in person during tours and demonstration flights.
Only one final step remains to move to the 4th stage, where assembly will begin and the first flight of the large unmanned NOVA-2 airship will take place.
