Electronics testing in a vacuum chamber

We are continuing to improve the reliability of the onboard systems of airships and stratospheric balloons.

AERONOVA specialists are conducting laboratory tests of the electronics using a vacuum chamber that simulates high-altitude operating conditions.

The tests verify the performance of radio modules and data transmission systems, as well as the behavior of the electronics under reduced pressure and altered heat transfer conditions. In particular, transceivers operating around 1.2 GHz are being tested, enabling an assessment of link reliability in high-altitude flight.

Special attention is paid to thermal regimes. In a thin atmosphere, the effectiveness of convective cooling drops sharply, so the goal of the tests is to determine how the electronics behave during overheating and what solutions are required to ensure stable operation at altitudes up to 20–25 km.

These tests make it possible to identify limitations in advance and refine the design of cooling systems and equipment layout.

The work continues — as results are obtained, we will share further findings.
