June digest: the New Generation Airships project
In June, the New Generation Airships project team actively worked both on advancing technologies and on audience engagement and project outreach.
Optimizing ground operations with NOVA-01.
A robotic transport trolley for the NOVA-01 airship, manufactured in-house, has been delivered to the airfield. Its primary purpose is to automate and make ground operations safer: rollout from the hangar, parking, approach, and mooring.
Active preparations for assembling the NOVA-2 airship.
In-house manufactured valves and fans have been delivered to the airfield for testing the air-gas system. The first tests on the air receiver confirmed normal operation of the equipment and made it possible to identify the list of required refinements.
In addition, the final, fourth stabilizer tip has been manufactured, completing the empennage kit.
Airship envelope production continues.
At the envelope production facility, a tensile testing rig has been assembled to verify the quality of fabrics, as well as welded elements on the airship envelope against the design specifications. The team will begin testing shortly.
Open day at AERONOVA.
Four tour groups were able to examine in detail the unmanned airship NOVA-01 and AEROLЁT-01, hear the stories of their development, and come away with impressions that words cannot convey.
AERONOVA engineers live on air.
An extensive series of webinars has concluded. Three of the company's lead engineers spoke about how the future of aviation is being created in Russia. The sessions covered historical legacy, modern technologies, and the use of microturbines and artificial intelligence. Recordings of all webinars are already available for viewing.
Rescheduling of the project news webinar.
For technical reasons, the monthly project news webinar is postponed to late July. The team is now focused on preparing for important work events, which we will share later. We will announce the new webinar date separately.
Extension of stage 3.
A decision has been made to extend stage 3, as achieving a number of important goals is necessary to ensure a seamless transition to stage 4. SOLARGROUP CEO Sergey Semyonov outlines these goals in a video address.
