May digest: the New Generation Airships project
The New Generation Airships project is steadily moving toward the completion of Stage 3. The team's primary focus is currently on developing the full-scale NOVA-2 airship, approximately 40 meters in length. This airship will be a technological breakthrough and the flagship of Stage 4.
We are summarizing the interim results and sharing the key achievements of May with you.
Airship landing gear component: NOVA-2 composite leaf spring
A prototype has been produced — half of the composite leaf spring, a critical suspension component responsible for reliability and safety during landing.
The prototype has been placed on a specially prepared test bench.
The goal is to validate the design stiffness and strength under load.
After analyzing the results, the team will proceed to manufacture the full leaf spring.
Production of airship envelopes
Production is in full swing to create ultra-strong, lightweight structures:
• automated cutting and precision material marking are in progress;
• seams are formed using advanced welding.
The envelope for the first NOVA-2 airship will be ready by late summer.
Test facility: air-gas system (AGS) test bench
The team has fully assembled the bench to validate critical airship systems. The bench enables assemblies to be tested under real-world conditions before they are installed on the full-scale airship, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
An initial functionality check has been completed.
The next step is integration and testing of AGS components.
Tail assembly: stabilizers
The active phase of manufacturing the tail assembly components for NOVA-2 continues:
• milling of mold blocks for the first section is underway;
• assembly of the forward section of the tail unit is in progress.
These components form the foundation of the future structure and are a key part of the airship’s aerodynamic configuration.
A pivotal milestone lies ahead, where we will clearly see everything this project was created for.
